When it comes to working out, having goals that motivate you play a huge role in getting you to the gym, the pool, or hit the pavement. Maybe you’re training for a sporting event, maybe you’re trying to lose weight, or maybe you just want to feel as healthy as possible. Whatever your goal, having the right equipment is the easiest way to get the most out of your workout. That means having a sports watch that can keep you and your goals on track.
Hitting the gym can be a struggle and finding something to get you excited about putting in the work, whether it’s a new playlist, a great pair of shoes, a new routine, a friend to workout with, or a great accessory like a sports watch can be the extra push you need to hit the weights. When it comes to looking for a sports watch, there are some key elements that can help maximize your workout.
A watch that is water resistant is a must for swimmers, divers, or anyone who likes to spend time in the water, but even if your workout is on dry land, a water-resistant watch helps to protect against sweat and the occasional downpour, a reality for those who like to run outdoors.
Having a timer and the ability to count laps and intervals allows you to easily keep track of your workouts, enabling you to take note of your best time and continually challenge yourself to beat your fastest lap or inspire you to speed up when interval training.
A watch that is durable, lightweight and has a long-lasting battery means that you don’t have to worry about your watch failing in the middle of a workout.
We’ve selected three great sport watches to help you get the best out of your workouts. Now the rest is up to you.
1. Casio Men’s ‘G-Shock’ Quartz Resin Sport Watch
Shock resistant and boasting an impressive 200-meter water resistance, double the depth of our other watches, the Casio Men’s ‘G-Shock’ Quartz Resin Sport Watch is tough and boasts a long list of features. Pros of the watch include an electroluminescent backlight with afterglow, a stopwatch, countdown alarm, auto-repeat function and calendar. The G-Shock has a two-year battery life, the longest of all the watches on our list, with many customers saying it actually lasts much longer. Customers also list the watch’s durability as a big pro, with many users wearing the G-Shock while surfing and diving thanks to its impressive 200-meter water resistance. Cons of the G-Shock are its price tag, with the G-Shock the most expensive option on our list.

2. Timex Ironman Classic 30
If you want a watch that is not as bulky as the G-Shock, we recommend the Timex Ironman Classic. The watch is suitable for swimming or snorkeling, but with only 100 meters of water-resistance, divers should stick to the G-Shock. The Timex has every feature you need for a great workout, including a 30-lap memory, countdown timer and alarm, and an Indiglo Light-Up watch dial that makes it easy to see in any condition. Available in 18 color combinations and made with a resin strap and buckle closure, the watch has a large display and five-button access to its many modes. Pros of the Timex include its interval timer with nine intervals per session available, making it great for cardio training. It’s also lightweight, which is perfect for sweaty sessions at the gym. Some customers noted that the watch does have a few cons, with the band sometimes breaking before the watch has died and a lack of instructions that makes learning about the various features difficult.

3. Casio Men’s W800H-1AV Classic Sport Watch
Affordable and still boasting many of the same features as the G-Shock and Timex, the Casio Men’s W800H-1AV Classic Sport Watch is a retro style sport watch available only in black. Like the Timex, the Casio is water-resistant up to 100 meters, although some customers have complained that their watch became difficult to read or stopped working completely after wearing it in water. Pros of the watch include a one-year warranty, a LED light, dual time, and a multi-function alarm with snooze. Many customers like the design and function of the Casio but complain that the band easily breaks.
