On July 10th, Jay-Z announced a North American tour with 31 dates. If you slept on the initial release of tickets, fear not, there are plenty of ways to see the show.
The 4:44 tour doesn’t kick off until October 27, but you can catch Jay-Z starting in September at the Budweiser Made in America Festival as well as The Meadows Music and Arts Festival. You can also see the show in early October at the Austin City Limits Festival.
Upon its release at the end of June, Jay-Z’s 4:44 hit number one on the US Billboard 200 charts and went platinum within six days. The critically-acclaimed album is Hova’s thirteenth solo album to go platinum.
After a series of salmon-colored posters emblazoned with “4:44” began popping up in LA, NYC and Miami in early June, as well as on sites like Complex and Hypebeast as banner ads, the Internet went into a frenzy trying to figure out what the cryptic ads were for.
Internet sleuths quickly ascertained the significance of the number “4” and linked the promos to Jay-Z, given his fondness for the number. Both Beyonce and Jay have “IV” tattoos and their respective birthdays also fall on the 4th of each month.
A minute long teaser starring Lupita Nyong’o, Danny Glover and Mahershala Ali aired during the NBA Finals on June 7, ending with “4:44 — 6.30.17, Exclusively on Tidal”.
