I’ve never been much of a reader, at least not for leisure. But after years of dealing with a two-hour commute, I had eventually been worn down to hop on the podcast train and then eventually audiobooks. I’ve been subscribed to Audible for several years now since I started reading through Brandon Sanderson’s The Stormlight Archive series which I crushed through in roughly a month. I’m happy to report I am now a “reader” so long as you’re okay with the loose definition.
Audible is a great way to get into audiobooks and it’s now even easier thanks to a three-month free trial. So what do you get with the subscription exactly? Once a month you’ll get a credit that you can use toward a bestseller, new release, or any audiobook part of the Audible catalog. That audiobook is now yours to keep, even if you cancel your subscription. You’ll also gain access to thousands of podcasts and Audible originals as well as a 30% discount on any additional title you want.
Start yourself out with one of this month’s best-sellers. The number one audiobook right now is Spare—an autobiography by Prince Harry—but I recommend former iCarly star Jennette McCurdy’s memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died which is as heartbreaking as it is hilarious.
The Audible extended free trial offer ends February 20 so jump on it while it’s still there. You can cancel anytime which is something to definitely keep in mind. Don’t do what I did which is forget about it and let too many credits accrue that you now don’t know what to do with. I might have to get really into Discworld just to work through my credits.
