It’s official, another chapter in the MCU universe is coming to a streaming service near you. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the highly anticipated TV miniseries starring Captain America’s best friends, will be released Friday, March 19 on Disney+. Following the success of WandaVision, the first Disney+ show set in the MCU, the series features Marvel Comics characters Sam Wilson, aka the Falcon, and Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier.
Unlike Marvel’s Netflix TV shows about Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, the new Disney+ series is officially set in the official Marvel Cinematic Universe. The show fits into the MCU timeline right after the end of Avengers: Endgame, and features the writing of Malcolm Spellman and the direction of Kari Skogland.
After some pandemic-related production delays, the 6-episode mini-series is set to drop on Disney+ this Friday, with new episodes released weekly on Fridays at 3 a.m. EST. That means subscribers are just a few hours away from watching the premiere. Unfortunately, if you’re hoping to watch The Falcon and the Winter Soldier for free, you’re out of luck. Disney Plus took down their free trial in 2020, so there’s no way to watch it for free unless you borrow a friend’s password.
However, DIsney+ subscriptions start at just $6.99 per month, which is a screaming good streaming deal, especially if you’re a fan of the MCU. All of the movies in the MCU, except for the Spider-man movies, are available to stream on Disney+ right now.
Is Disney+ Worth It?
In my opinion, Disney+ is a worthwhile streaming service, even if you don’t have kids or aren’t particularly Disney-inclined. They’ve got content from all the Disney properties including Pixar, the Star Wars universe, the Marvel Cinematic Universe and National Geographic. They also offer a bundled package with Hulu and ESPN+ if you’re interested in saving on streaming.
Join today and you’ll have instant access to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier miniseries as well as all of the other great content on Disney+.
