* Hulu signs deal with Sony Pictures Television & Telemundo
* Will stream more Spanish-language series and telenovelas
* Deal includes 9 Pedro Almodóvar films

Hulu has closed a deal with Telemundo and Sony Pictures Television to add hundred of hours of Spanish-language programming to the streaming service. The new Spanish language content will include popular telenovelas and nine films by Pedro Almodóvar.

This is the first deal ever struck between the NBCUniversal-owned Telemundo and Hulu, which is a joint venture between NBCUniversal, Disney-ABC, Fox Entertainment Group and Turner Broadcasting System. See below for a list of Spanish-language programming coming to Hulu.

The announcement comes as competition among streaming services continues to stiffen. Netflix is spending billions of dollars on content development, and Amazon has won awards for its original programming.
