* Not in town? Make your own party with supplies from Amazon
Rib festivals are one of the best, if not most overlooked, parts of summer. If you haven’t yet sunk your teeth into some sweet barbecue, fear not. There are still plenty of chances to taste the best ribs at events across the country.
We rounded up some of the most promising festivals that are happening this month. If there’s nothing near you, make your own festival at home with the sauces, tools and grills available on Amazon.
1. Coastal Country Jam BBQ & Beer Fest
Huntington Beach, CA: August 12
Billed as the “the largest 21+ country beach bash in the country,” Coastal Country Jam happens at Huntington Beach in sunny Orange County, CA. They have great barbecue, not to mention beach bars, line dancing and bull riding. Billy Currington is headlining the musician lineup; other acts include Walker Hayes and Sunny Sweeney.
2. Northwest Ohio Rib Off
Maumee, OH: August 17-20
If you’re looking for good music and great food in the Buckeye State, check out the Northwest Ohio Rib Off. Not only are you in for three days of the best barbecue the Rust Belt has to offer, but you can even bring the whole family. This year’s musical lineup includes Dennis DeYoung of Styx , Lee Brice and Grand Funk Railroad .
3. Capital City Ribfest
Lincoln, NE: August 17-19
Midwesterners who like meat will love the Capital City Ribfest. The entertainment lineup includes Chris Sayre and John Walker, but what makes this party so great is the community involvement. Tickets are only $5 at the gate, and children 11 and under get in for free. Adults get free admission and free sides when they bring a can of food for the Food Bank of Lincoln (August 18 and 19 only). You also get in free if you come early and show your ticket to the Kendrick Lamar show or Crawford vs. Indongo.
4. Long Beach BBQ Festival
Long Beach, CA: August 18-20
Southern Californians who want their kids to appreciate good barbecue, but can’t get them into Coastal Country Jam on account of the age restriction, should make it a point to attend the Long Beach BBQ Festival. If there’s someone in your brood who doesn’t like barbecue, they can still enjoy the Chinese, American, Mexican and Thai cuisine available in the food court. Be sure not to miss your chance to vote in the cook off between local and national barbecue enthusiasts.
