Plastic water bottles are wasteful earth-killers. What advantage could they possibly have over their reusable environmentally friendly counterparts? Only two we can think of: you know the water inside them is clean, and you never have to wash the darned things.
And now, right on time, comes the excuse killer: the LARQ Bottle, the world’s first self-cleaning water bottle. It’s also a water-purification system that gives you 17 ounces of pure water anytime, anyplace, no matter where you fill it from. It kills germs, thirst, and your last excuses for loading our landfills and oceans with those awful disposable plastic bottles.
The LARQ uses a rechargeable, non-toxic, UV-C LED light built into the cap to eradicate germs both harmful and just plain gross. Unlike many UV lights, the UV-C lights in the LARQ bottle are mercury-free and last 40 times longer than conventional mercury-based UV technology. It’s proprietary and patented technology that sets the LARQ apart from literally every other water bottle on the market today.
The light works in three modes: an automatic 10-second self-cleaning cycle which activates every two hours, a 60-second water-purification cycle, and a three-minute “adventure mode” which deploys three times the UV dosage and kills 99.9999% of various germs including E.coli, Salmonella, Staph, and MRSA. You can also place the bottle in Travel Mode, to lock it and prevent the battery from running out accidentally.
It almost goes without saying that this UV bombardment also leaves the bottle itself incredibly clean and free from those musty water-bottle smells. Even if you’re one of those rare people who’s really diligent about scrubbing and washing your water bottle, the LARQ is going to be cleaner, every single time, after just the touch of a button. How much cleaner? LARQ proudly claims its bottle is over 10,000 times cleaner than regular reusable bottles.
The Li-polymer battery is USB-rechargeable and gives you up to a month of cleaning power after a full charge. The MicroUSB connector is, thankfully, waterproof, as is the battery and cap. A MicroUSB to USB charging cable is included for easy charging.
We haven’t even gotten to how the LARQ functions as, well, a water bottle. At 17 ounces, it’s travel-friendly and has a luxurious two-tone powder coat and matte finish that comes in five cool colors. Its double-wall insulated stainless steel construction keeps water cold for 24 hours and hot for up to 12.
Granted, at $95 the LARQ is a luxury item. But it will save you up to $1000 per year compared to bottled water, not to mention the aggravation of constantly cleaning your regular reusable bottle. Plus, LARQ donates a portion of proceeds to 1% for the Planet to benefit the environment and bring safe drinking water to billions.
