Like SPY, Robb Report is part of the Penske Media Corporation, and they cover luxury items, sports cars and travel destinations. Though the brand dabbles in luxury products a bit outside of our price range (you won’t find any yachts featured here on SPY), we can’t lie, we love seeing how the other half lives. As you might expect from the luxury lifestyle type, our colleagues at Robb Report are total wine snobs, which is why we’re excited about their newest project. Rare & Fine is an exclusive wine collection curated specifically for wine lovers, collectors and connoisseurs.
Rare & Fine includes fine wines that you won’t find easily at your average liquor store. Make no mistake, this is a collection for wine lovers who can truly appreciate a rare vintage when they taste it. Meaning, it isn’t necessarily catered toward somebody who has the occasional glass of red at dinner. This is for wine connoisseurs through and through.
Bottles offered by Rare & Fine come in a quarterly case of six selections hand-chosen by our colleagues at Robb Report in partnership with Wally’s Wine & Spirits. Every bottle in the collection is special in its own way, not to mention delicious. They’re even including some extra rare picks that are not just hard to find but also sell out annually. So in some cases, Rare & Fine could even be your last chance to obtain exclusive bottles that tend to disappear from the shelves pretty quickly.
Rare & Fine is aptly named, as the first collection is only available to 100 customers. If you love discovering new wines from the best vintners in the world, then the Rare & Fine collection is for you.
Robb Report launched this program to ensure that true wine lovers are able to get their hands on exceptional bottles they already love and to discover new wines from premium producers. Through this curated collection, wine connoisseurs can obtain fine wines they’ve only read about before. You’ll definitely have trouble finding another wine program in the world that can match what Rare & Fine is offering — or maybe we’re just biased.
The first release in the Rare & Fine collection includes vintages from the world’s most revered wine regions, from Napa Valley to Tuscany. The inaugural collection also includes two Robb Report Best of the Best 2020 award winners, the Penfolds 2015 Grange —probably the best Shiraz in the world — and Maricano Estate’s 2018 Blanc, a white wine that’s been aged on the lees (little yeasty bits of yum for wine people) to give it richness and a beautiful nose.
Two renowned bottles of Burgundy are also in the selection: Chateau de la Tour 2015 Clos-Vougeot, a Pinot Noir from one of the world’s oldest grand cru vineyards, and Domaine de Chateau de Meursault 2015 Les Charmes, a legendary French Chardonnay. Rounding out the mix are a 2015 Napa Valley classic Cabernet from Shafer—one of that producer’s finest, the Hillside Select—and the 2016 Ornellaia, a Bordeaux-style red that’s become a household name among those who know.
