These Glenlivet Whisky Capsules Look Like Boozy Tide Pods

If you think the above resembles that of a Tide Pod with The Glenlivet branding, we’re with you.

The Glenlivet whisky launched a “Capsule Collection” at London’s Cocktail Week that the internet has identified as looking shockingly similar to that of a Tide Pod capsule. And after all the #TidePodChallenge scares that involved children consuming laundry pods, this seems like a very risky endeavor.

This Glenlivet limited-edition collection serves 23ml of whisky cocktails in a seaweed-extract casing that makes them fully consumable — no glass required. But according to Twitter, many whisky-lovers are less than thrilled about this launch. Not only do some whisky drinkers feel it’s ruining the way whisky is meant to be enjoyed, but many also identified it as a health risk.

“It’s all fun and games until you mix these up with your Tide pods and end up with whiskey-soaked clothes and a stomach pump,” tweeted @ParkerMolloy.

Miriam Eceolaza, director of The Glenlivet, said in the announcement, “As a brand that celebrates originality, we are always looking to break the conventions that have determined how single malt Scotch has historically been enjoyed,” reports Food and Wine.

“The Glenlivet Capsule Collection does exactly that, and we’re excited to see how people react when they try our glassless cocktails.”
