The holiday season is coming up fast, and shopping for the latest fashions, toys and gadgets will look a lot different this year. Instead of packed malls and last-minute trips to the store for stocking stuffers, people will be shopping early and online. Many retailers have moved up their holiday gift guides to accommodate for the increase in online shopping ahead of the 2020 holiday season. Amazon has already unveiled its Toys We Love list for 2020, which includes dozens of fan favorites as well as new products chosen by Amazon staff that will surely delight any child opening a brightly wrapped box.

All told, Amazon’s Toys We Love list contains more than 100 of the best toys of 2020, from Baby Yoda toys to princess dolls and Nerf guns. Helping to take the ‘guesswork out of gifting,’ Amazon’s list includes toys for every age group and price point. Fans of Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol, aspiring artists and coders, future fashion designers and building designers, and those who love to spend the afternoon playing board games or completing puzzles with friends and family will all find something they love on Amazon’s in-depth holiday shopping list.

We picked 10 of the best items to help parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends get started on their holiday shopping list. There may even be an item or two that adults want to pick up for themselves as well. We’ve all been nice this year, right?

1. FISHER PRICE ROLLIN’ ROVEE

BEST BABY TO TODDLER TOY

If you are buying for a baby or toddler and aren’t quite sure of their ability level, or if you simply want a toy that can grow with the little one in your life, we recommend the new Fisher-Price Rollin’ Rovee. The brightly colored interactive friend grows with little ones, with four modes of play appropriate for babies and toddlers who are sitting, crawling or walking. Lights and music hold little one’s attention while they sing and dance with Rollin’ Rovee, learning up to 190 sounds, tunes and phrases, including the alphabet, their numbers, how to follow directions, and hearing their favorite nursery rhymes. As toddlers become more mobile, Rollin’ Rovee can move its arms and throw a ball, helping little ones learn how to play catch without the need for adult assistance. Designed for ages six months to five years, the Rollin’ Rovee can be used both independently or between friends and siblings.

Babies, toddlers and kids love to hear music, so help them develop an appreciation for orchestra instruments at an early age. The B. Toys by Battat B. Symphony Musical Toy Orchestra for Kids includes 13 brightly colored toy instruments that can be inserted into the orchestra pit to create beautiful music. Kids can listen to 15 professionally recorded melodies, from nursery rhymes to Beethoven. Kids will also learn how to match by finding the correct color and shape in the orchestra pit for each instrument.

3. STAR WARS THE CHILD ANIMATRONIC EDITION

BEST FOR STAR WARS FANS

Just in time for the upcoming release of The Mandalorian’s second season, a new toy featuring The Child, a.k.a. the ridiculously cute Baby Yoda, has arrived. Designed for kids ages four and above (yes, adults will love it as well), users can touch the top of Baby Yoda’s head to hear 25 sweet sounds from the humanoid alien, from excited giggles to sleepy yawns. Tapping Baby Yoda’s head three times will elicit physical movements, including raised arms, eyes closing and a large sigh. Children can also place Baby Yoda in a horizontal position, which will encourage Baby Yoda to close their eyes and take a nap. Controlling The Force is tiring work. Baby Yoda also comes with a removable Mandalorian pendant necklace for when kids need some extra help fighting for what’s right.

BEST FOR PAW PATROL FANS

Young fans of Paw Patrol can’t get enough of their favorite show, and that includes the many books, toys, pajama sets, backpacks and countless other items inspired by the crime-fighting dogs. Just when parents think they’ve run out of Paw Patrol items to buy their little one, a new toy set inspired by Chase has been announced for release in October. The 5-in-1 cruiser has room for all six Paw Patrol pups and also includes the Paw Patrol cruiser with flashing lights and sound effects, two motorcycles, a boat, and a helicopter. In other words, enough items so that if/when your child loses one piece of the set, they will hopefully be consoled by playing with another vehicle.

For future Michelangelos, the Crayola Inspiration Art Case Coloring Set is a great gift to keep the little art lover in your life busy on a rainy afternoon, a car trip, or simply while they are waiting for dinner to be ready. 8. OSMO CODING STARTER KIT FOR IPAD

BEST STEM FOR YOUNGER KIDS

To help get kids as young as five develop an interest in technology beyond the screen, there’s the Osmo Coding Starter Kit. Used in conjunction with an iPad, the Osmo teaches the basics of coding with physical tools. Using tangible puzzle pieces and the iPad, children can begin to understand how to physically put together the building blocks necessary to create the games they play and videos they watch on devices. Using the character Coding Awbie, children learn how to create music, sounds, and direct Coding Awbie to make his way through games and challenges. Strategy and problem-solving skills come into play through completing the puzzles in the game. We also like that Osmo does not require a Wi-Fi connection, which allows parents to let their kids learn to code on the iPad without worrying about them seeing inappropriate content online.
