Why Thursday is the Day for Dating With This Brand New Dating App

What are you doing this Thursday? Grocery shopping? Laundry? Catching up on your favorite Netflix series?

What about a spontaneous, impromptu date instead?

In a post-COVID world, it’s hard to imagine dating again. We haven’t had a ton of human interaction in quite some time, so a lot of us are finding solitude in the best dating apps so we can meet folks without stumbling over our words when flirting at the pub. Whether you’re swiping through Tinder, sweeping through profiles on OkCupid or dangling your finger over the delete button on Grindr again, we’re sure you’ve got at least one dating app on your phone.

But, what you don’t have? The brand new dating app that prioritizes a single day of the week for you to find and go on your date.

Meet Thursday.

Thursday is the newest dating app making headlines across the globe right now. Why? Unlike all of the dating apps you’re used to, Thursday comes with a bit of a twist.

If you didn’t already guess, yup, this app only works on Thursday. If you try using the Thursday app on any other day of the week, it simply won’t work. The app will show a countdown until next Thursday, so all you can do until then is wait.

On Thursdays when the countdown has lifted, you will see a map of your area where a few profiles will be scattered. Don’t worry, Thursday never gives your exact location, just a general idea of where potential dates might be. You’ll be able to click on each individual profile and click whether you’re interested in pursuing a conversation or not based on their profile — which includes photos and questions, similar to what you’d expect on Hinge.

When you match with someone, Thursday will allow you to chat and plan your date for that night. Once Friday comes around, you can no longer see other profiles and you will only have 24 more hours to chat with your match until your conversation deletes forever. All in all, it’s best you get moving.

Because there is more to life than dating apps, Thursday enforces their users to get out and live their life. Life post quarantine isn’t about being on your phone and looking for your next date. Go hang out with your friends, catch up with your family, take a stroll through the park and wait until Thursday to score your next date. The most refreshing way to online date.

But, the question is, does it work?

From a first-hand experience, all I can say is yeah, it works. I live in New York City and downloaded the app last Wednesday in hopes to snag a date the following day. I don’t want to spill too many details, but let’s just say I’m really excited about this next Thursday.

Thursday just launched in May of this year and has so far only rolled out in London and New York City, so folks living elsewhere will have to wait a little longer before finding their date this Thursday. But to those of you lucky enough to be in the Big Apple or across the pond — download it. Get yourself a date on Thursday. You’ll never know what will happen.
