Trix
My favorite cereal as a kid growing up was none other than Trix. How could it not be when, “Trix are for Kids?”
Its popular commercials with Trix the Rabbit trying to trick kids into giving him a bowl of cereal was a huge success and was always fun to watch.
And the taste of fruity Trix cereal, which resembled flowers and fruits were all the more enticing to eat as opposed to regularly-shaped cereal.
And although Trix has returned to its original round shape and General Mills has removed its artificial flavoring and high fructose corn syrup — healthier sure, but also stripping its blue and green colors — Trix will always have a special place in my inner-child heart. – Dustin Rios
There’s something so nostalgic about Life Cereal (also known as “Quaker Life” to some). It reminds me of watching Saved by the Belland superhero cartoons on Saturday mornings, with a big bowl of milk and cereal in hand.
To be honest, I thought Life Cereal was kind of boring when I was a kid — it didn’t have any marshmallows, fancy colors or fun characters on the box. And it wasn’t sweet enough for my sweet tooth. But these days, I’m over the excess sugar and I just want something simple and satisfying. Life can get so complicated these days – your cereal shouldn’t be. – Tim Chan
They’re super simple, super sweet, and they make your milk taste like sweet cream. I actually developed my love for frosted flakes in my college days at a hotel’s complimentary breakfast “buffet.”
I had always thought they were boring and overrated, but this one instance proved me wrong, and the breakfast food quickly became a dessert staple. – Mia Maguire
Introduced in 1984, Cinnamon Toast Crunch sparked a remarkable turnaround for General Mills and Nestle’s market success. With a delicious cinnamon crunchy taste, every bite of Cinnamon Toast Crunch is pure bliss.
Let’s not forget to mention how Cinnamon Toast Crunch not only made eating cereal more exciting but also made leftover cereal milk more delicious because of its cinnamon altered flavor. -DR
I’m not surely why in retrospect, but I absolutely loved Cap’n Crunch as a kid.
Maybe it was because my mother forbid sugary cereals from our house, and I only got to indulge in them at sleepovers and on special occassions, but I loved that stuff.
Now days, it feels like a maple-tinged styrofoam dissolving in my mouth everytime I try to be nostalgic with my cereal, but I lived for it all through childhood and high school. -MM
It’s tough to be the best selling cereal in the United States and not be recognized as one of the best breakfast cereals.
So here we have Honey Nut Cheerios, the less healthy but tastier version of the classic Cheerios cereal. Despite promising to lower cholesterol, Honey Nut Cheerios has retained its delicious honey taste. -DR
Since junk food cereal wasn’t allowed, I had to back something sugary with healthy bona fides. Made from 100% whole grains and packed full of fiber and iron, it passed the mom test.
I always ate them with the frosted coating down so as to maximize the sweetness. -MK
