Since the 80s we’ve been entertained by sassy competitive cheerleaders in Bring It On, vampire cheerleaders in Jennifer’s Body, and even bank robber cheerleaders in Sugar & Spice.

Cheerleader Megan (Natasha Lyonne) has it all: good grades, cheerleading skills, and a hunk footballer boyfriend. Seemingly out of the blue, her parents send her to a sexual orientation altering boot camp because they think she’s a lesbian. While she’s adamant that she doesn’t belong at the camp, she starts to have feelings for camp member Graham (Clea DuVall).

Overall it’s an underrated, laugh-out-loud cheerleader comedy that also has a sweet message about identity and coming-of-age.

Heathers is an 80s cult classic with a star-studded cast including Winona Ryder, Christian Slater, and Shannen Doherty.
Veronica (Ryder) is a popular cheerleader with a new boyfriend (Slater). When they get into an argument with cruel clique leader Heather Chandler (Kim Walker), they accidentally poison her, and have to make it look like a suicide.
